I recommend synthetic ice pad for customers to test the skates prior to purchase. I tested my skates at rink after purchasing them but I would have preferred to be 100% confident before purchase. I'm used to walking around skates off ice but not everyone is.
Luckily I knew my sizing and what to look for as I felt the employee who helped me was inexperienced but patient. Yet I feel they could have explained more about the models and asked more questions on my frequency of skating and usage.
I talked to employee who works at the skate sharpening area who said my skates will only last 1-2 years due lower quality, frequency of my practicing, and work on the ice.
Overall, good service and thankful for the patience and help of the staff.
Both times I was helped by Ryan M. He was very knowledgeable about the brands and equipment, and helped find the best fit for me. Ryan is the reason I keep coming back to the store.

Yep years later you have reaffirmed my reasoning to go to pure hockey instead. Stopped in to purchase a goalie chest pad. Found that and a stick. One employee was helping a customer, mind you the 40 minutes we shopped and tried stuffed on, employees still did not ask to help. As I am waiting in line to check, the employee helping a customer ask the other associate in the picture to help cash people out. He out right says no and walks away. Once again you have proven your service is terrible.
I thought service would improve after the put goalie monkey inside monkey sports. It hasn't. It's gotten worse. Wanted to purchase my daughter Brians leg pads. No one wanted to help. They literally walked to the other side of the store to hide. I'll travel the extra 15 minutes up the highway to Pure Hockey for 100 percent better experience everytime.
Sadly, it is not even close to it and I wouldn't even consider it a Superstore. Low stock, rarely any selection, especially the high end level, lack of knowledge and customer service.
Play It Again Sports had more items that we were looking for than MonkeySports. We were looking into goalie equipment and all they had were beginner and some intermediate level products. No selection in sizes, they had small and no medium. They had Large and no small.
Online is inconvenient as they connected. If you buy something online, you can't return it in the store. Pure Hockey is no different. It's sad to see such a large store that I admire years ago fall to a department store level.

Within all of our MonkeySports locations, we have the latest skate fitting technology from our major brands. 3D skate fitting and foot scanning is valuable to our customers in which they can figure out which stock skate works best for their specific needs and even make recommendations and showcase how skates would fit on the feet if they are smaller or larger. This scanner will pick up every small detail of the foot and the technology of the skate recommender works great! There are different versions that can be done where the customer is either standing or sitting and the scanner is either moved around their feet or captured while standing in the scanner itself. Customers can also get these foot scans done to figure out which custom skate would work best for their individual needs to make sure when they are on the ice, they are skating to their best potential.
Skate Sharpening & Repair
For all hockey players, it is essential to get your blades sharpened and our MonkeySports location can take care of your skates to keep you on the ice. We use the best products available to sharpen, repair, swap holders, replace rivets and provide maintenance needed for our customers. Specifically in Roller Hockey markets, our stores will also handle swapping holders and can convert your ice skates with a chassis to house roller wheels.
On top of this skate service, most locations can provide sewing and maintenance to player gloves, goalie gear, lacrosse heads or baseball gloves.
