Jake Lakatos is his name and sports knowledge is his game. Kid is an absolute beautician and asset to Monkey sports especially in the roller and ice hockey sectors. I had a broken chassis and blade and he took care of it knowing I had a game in 3 hours. He made sure it was done right and sharpened the blade to perfection. He even walked me to the front in case I needed anything else. This was a brilliant hockey monkey experience. Thank you for making guys like this a part of your team. I went to Monkey sports needing lacrosse gear for my son who’s never played. I knew nothing about the sport. We were greeted by Jake who educated us all about lacrosse and explained what equipment was needed. He really was an amazing young man. He was patient and extremely knowledgeable. He made the entire experience pleasant. This is why I will choose to shop here just for the personable help. Jake you did a great job and monkey sports is lucky to have you.

The sales person that we got was just awful… he really seemed annoyed trying to help us find the right size… he brought my son a size that was a bit small but insisted it was right … then when my son asked for a half size bigger, he said they didn’t have it … when we found it online he went back and found it … then he went to heat them up and told my son to keep it in his feet for 10 min and then just didn’t return … when I went up to the front to ask what we should do, the guy told me that he probably just went to lunch… is that normal customer service???

By far my worst experience at any hockey store ever. I went into the store just to order a pair of custom pads. We had the spec sheet in hand. The goalie guy that approached us went ahead and sized me with head to toe goalie equipment when I specifically told them I didn't need any other gear besides custom pads. Then went ahead and continued to grab a pair of skates, helmet, chest protector, and stick encouraging me to purchase it for no reason. Later said I was either using gear that was too small or too big even though the gear fit fine just to get a big sale commission for him. As a goalie sales rep this is truely disappointing and embarrasing.

As a new sled ice hockey player I truly appreciated the advise and help Phill offered me during my visit to MonkeySports. He began by asking opposed to simply trying to sell me a product. Phill’s knowledge in this field was truly helpful and I thank him for sharing it with me. I needed just about everything but the adaptive equipment I use as a paraplegic and he took the time to ensure each piece of equipment was a good fit for me.

Jason helped my son get fitted and pick out skates. He was so great with him and even seemed to enjoy my 3 year old talking his eat off while he waited with us. He was so great with both of them and very helpful. You don't find that kind of care and service very often.

This store was recommended for my son’s hockey skates and gear, and they did not disappoint. Great service (Jason was super helpful in making sure we found the right skate and fit) and the prices were reasonable. Sharpening only took a few minutes. Great place for hockey players!

Went to get skates sharpened, and requested 3/8 hollow. Skated on them the following day, and had no bite on my skates. I’ve been playing hockey for 25 years and know when skates are sharpened properly, these were not. This was my first time getting my skates sharpened there and probably won’t go back to get this done. Prior to getting my skates sharpened, I did inquire if they profiled skates, and it was noted that the Sparkx machine has been broken for quite some time, but can be done by hand. Needless to say, I’m glad I didn't have them profile the skates, who knows how the skates would have performed. If this (Sparkx) isn’t being fixed anytime soon, I’d recommend additional training for those manning the skate sharpener in the back to avoid players from having poor performing edges on their skates. Additionally, I bought a pair of shin pads, and was greeted by a rude cashier, who failed to remove the magnetic security tag on them, which was a pain to remove, but I had wire snips to get them off. Unfortunately, there aren’t many options in NJ when it comes to purchasing hockey equipment, but be aware when you do request a specific hollow outside the standard 1/2 cut, to check the edges before leaving.

It is extremely frustrating when a store posts that they open at 11am, there are customers outside waiting at 11:04, all staff is in a huddle just inside the doors. When attempting to open the door, the group of young adults give the “wait a minute” sign. After entering the store, being treated as if they are doing the customer a favor. Do I mind that a staff member was dropping the “f bomb” behind the counter? I do personally do not. But not a good look. When I went to speak with the manager, he wasn’t able to come out. Chronic lack of customer service appears to be systemic issue. Just frustrating.

Needed to buy ice hockey goalie gear and haven’t played in quite a few years. I went to another big name store and the gear but none to sell and it was ordering that left me in a bind. This was to my benefit, I had the chance to work with Ray and he took the time and explained the changes in equipment and has me in the right stuff.

Eric, Anthony and the staff at the Woodbridge MonkeySports have been extremely helpful. Involved and attentive, allowing for self-directed purchasing decision-making but very responsive! I want to applaud the young men Brian Z. and Philly G. in the Woodbridge location. They helped my daughter and I to find the right ice hockey gear for her.Brian and Philly are so knowledgeable. We have been shopping here for my son, a goalie, for 2 years. There are several reasons we keep coming back:1. They have goalies working in the goalie section. This is crucial. Instead of someone who just read the product literature, you're talking to someone who knows the equipment through experience and understands the unique needs of a goalie.2. They have plenty of stock and direct you to the right gear, not just the most expensive gear. I've never felt anyone trying to upsell me, instead they help you find what works best for you and your level of play.3. The level of customer service is excellent. We had an issue with a mask that was not Monkey Sports' fault. Even though they had no liability, they still made it right at their own expense. They could have sent me back to the manufacturer or just told me that it wasn't their problem, but instead they replaced the mask quickly and my son has a better mask that we can feel safer with.Eric and his team bring a wealth of experience and a great commitment to customer care when they fit out a goalie. We look forward to them being our go-to shop for some time to come.

They specialize in cheating children.My 13 year old nephew purchased a 300$ hockey stick from this store. The stick broke 2 weeks after purchase.The stick has a one month warranty so we were within the warranty period.When my nephew came in with the receipt to return the broken stick, they refused to accept the return because the bar code on the stick had been removed.When he purchased the stick he was not informed that the bar code was not supposed to be removed.My nephew is a regular customer here and has bought multiple items from this store.My nephew was weeping when he got home.After this experience we have decided not to shop here in the future.

Stay away from this store at all costs.I'm very frustrated with what happened to my baby nephew today. He is a long time multi purchaser at this store and his $300 hockey stick broke today. It has only been two weeks since he bought it so it's very likely that it is a manufacturer defect. That's not the issue though, we were grateful that it was within warranty time so we attempted to return it today only to be told that they would not let us get a replacement stick without the barcode on the stick. Now the problem is the employees did not tell us to keep the barcode stickers on the stick, so why fault us for removing the stickers? As a result, my nephew left the store and is in tears because he cannot get a replacement stick for no fault of his. I'm expecting someone to rectify this for us since we were clearly within the warranty period and we don't appreciate people trying to scam young kids and their families.

they pre baked every skate i put on, which suggest skates are baked 3 or 4 times before they find a buyer, which leads me to think skates are over baked.help was not great and they cycled me through 3 or 4 guys, where it felt like i was in their way.if there not interested in helping thats fine, leave me the skates you have in my size and let me sell myself.on line ordering was filled with back and forth.they did offer a return without issue.

Terrible return policy!! We returned a brand new pair of hockey pants because my son needed a new color for a new team. They were stored in the original packaging and only tried on one time. Tag still attached and within the return window. Hockey Monkey sent them back to me after several weeks and said the item smelled and had stains and that they were unable to be returned because of "obvious use". They advertise their 365 day return policy, but we are now stuck with a brand new pair of hockey pants that Hockey Monkey will not return. These pants do not smell and do not have stains. I never write reviews, but would like to caution others about using this company. These are a brand new pair of pants that Hockey Monkey will not accept as a return. Will be taking my business to more reputable businesses in the future. Your loss Hockey Monkey, because we spend a lot of money on hockey gear and I will recommend to every hockey family I know to take their business elsewhere.

3D Skate Fitting/3D Foot Scanning

Within all of our MonkeySports locations, we have the latest skate fitting technology from our major brands. 3D skate fitting and foot scanning is valuable to our customers in which they can figure out which stock skate works best for their specific needs and even make recommendations and showcase how skates would fit on the feet if they are smaller or larger. This scanner will pick up every small detail of the foot and the technology of the skate recommender works great! There are different versions that can be done where the customer is either standing or sitting and the scanner is either moved around their feet or captured while standing in the scanner itself. Customers can also get these foot scans done to figure out which custom skate would work best for their individual needs to make sure when they are on the ice, they are skating to their best potential.

Skate Sharpening & Repair

For all hockey players, it is essential to get your blades sharpened and our MonkeySports location can take care of your skates to keep you on the ice. We use the best products available to sharpen, repair, swap holders, replace rivets and provide maintenance needed for our customers. Specifically in Roller Hockey markets, our stores will also handle swapping holders and can convert your ice skates with a chassis to house roller wheels.

On top of this skate service, most locations can provide sewing and maintenance to player gloves, goalie gear, lacrosse heads or baseball gloves.
