I can’t say enough great things about Kenny! He went above and beyond to help my son get fully outfitted for lacrosse. From the moment we walked in, he was knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in making sure my son had the right gear for both safety and performance. He took the time to explain everything, made sure the fit was perfect, and even shared helpful tips to get my son started with confidence. You can tell he truly cares about the sport and his customers. If anyone needs lacrosse equipment, Kenny is the guy to see. Horrible! The worker that was helping me get hockey equipment got me a over sized helmet that I haded to use for the entire hockey season which made me look like a "fool" in pictures and hard to see! Even my coach said that I need a new helmet because I will get hurt! Make your workers know how to measure right equipment "Please" so this won't happen again.
As a figure skating coach I had students show me there skates after they been sharpened here I advise all figure skaters to avoid this place not a good place to sharpen figure skaters especially for advance skaters doing jumps or spins they took off my students rocker.
Kenny was so helpful and patient on my initial try on and making sure I found skates that fit my foot, was also super kind and helpful once I purchased them online - and needed to get them baked to fit my foot and sharpened. Thanks again for the great customer service Kenny!

I want to thank Monkey Sports for putting the right people to help. I came into the store for the first time about 2 weeks ago. The employee that helped me is Jake. I am a goalie (hockey).... and I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. Jake made me feel like I never played before lol. I've been a goalie for 30 years but wasn't up to date with new equipment. His knowledge is unbelievable. I walked out of the store confident that I bought the right equipment for my style of play (what Jake recommended). I highly recommend anybody who has any hockey equipment question (especially goalies) to go to him. The guy took the time to help me design custom pads. I don't see anybody else doing that. I will definitely be a returning customer and anybody reading this will do the same...
Great customer service. We went to look for softball equipment. They have a better selection on gloves and bats. But it’s still no where near the baseball selection. I give this a 4 stars bc the sales reps were very nice and helpful.

When I finally asked about a specific pair of skates, I was shown those but received no guidance on fitting, trying on, or exploring other options.

Kyle was awesome! He played high level hockey and knew exactly what he was talking about. From skates to sticks to shin guards and mouthpieces he had an answer for every question and made sure his answers explained every price point to make sure we got exactly what we needed. It's refreshing to go into a store where the employees are experts. Professionals who know their craft and can truly help others are rare nowadays. Thank you Monkey Sports for choosing great talent!

Really took the time to listen to what we were looking for, helped us try different things, and, with using their vast knowledge of equipment, helped us find the right sizes to best suit my son. As soon as we entered the store, we were greeted by a friendly associate. The store was clean and neat. Everyone was very helpful but one person really stood out above all the others. JAKE is beyond helpful and friendly!!! He was extremely patient and knowledgeable. He was able to answer all of our questions with detailed answers and made sure my son was fitted in the best equipment that suited his needs. Had my skates sharpened just over a week ago and just got to use them and the blades were duller than when I had them sharpened, had no edges entire game.
We went in to buy skates for my 15 year old. Anthony P. was very helpful and courteous. Gave us options for the brands and sizing and very patient with our back and forth between sizing. He was very attentive and was with us from beginning to end!

I just brought my 10 and 8-year-old sons to Monkey Sports to gear up for the new hockey season, and the experience was fantastic. Anthony P. went above and beyond to take care of us. From head to toe, he made sure we had everything we needed. He was super knowledgeable and helped us find the best gear without going overboard on cost (because let’s face it, hockey isn’t exactly cheap).

Mike P was excellent. I brought in a goalie mask that was worn to the point that the snaps were rusted and no longer fastening properly. Mike did a tremendous job.
We had to buy new hockey equipment for my 17 year old son who just finished 18U Travel and is getting ready for HS Hockey Season. Nick helped us out and rather than taking several hours as I thought it would, we wound up spending just a little bit over an hour to purchase new skates and a new stick. My son tried multiple sticks and multiple skates but Nick made the process easy. He was very knowledgeable about the equipment and hockey in general and helped my son on his purchase!
Went to buy new skates and Rob helped me from start to finish. He started by measuring my feet to make sure I was in the correct size, gave me product knowledge on the skates, and offered to bake them for me to try on before I committed to buying them. He was very knowledgeable on the product and didn’t put any pressure on me to buy them. Rob was awesome and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

Assistant store manager, Michael Palmisano completely focused on my situation. He demonstrated understanding, was honest, direct and thorough. He thoughtfully laid out all of my options and demonstrate the willingness to work with me. I did all of this on a busy Saturday afternoon when the store was populated with people doing sports equipment swaps and making purchases for themselves or their children. this is not unusual for the Woodbridge store, at least as far as I am concerned. But Michael went above and beyond what I could've expected, given my situation.

I can't say enough about the service and experience that we had. From the initial phone call with Tyler regarding repairing the lacing on my daughter's softball glove through the execution at the store with timely service and professionalism. Tyler did a phenomenal job repairing my daughter's glove while she waited and went above and beyond in the repair process. He was incredibly respectful to me on the phone and to my daughter and her friend when they are on site. She drove almost an hour to get there and it was well worth it. I wish we heard about this company years ago. She is a college softball player and we have dealt with a lot of companies over the years. You must go there!
Stopped in monkey sports to get my son new hockey skates for the season. We had the pleasure of having Dustin help us out. Dustin went above and beyond with helping us pick out skates a back up stick and a new helmet. He took the time to explain the kick point in the sticks, The types of blades for the skates and he even laced up out new skates with the wax laces. This is one of the best shopping experiences that I have EVER HAD!!!! We were traveling from PA to Rhode Island for a baseball tournament and my son forgot his cleats AND his turfs! We were SO nervous that we weren’t going to be able to find shoes. We called, spoke to Dylan, and he assured us that they had all the shoes we needed and in the right sizes!!! Will not be ordering from this place again. None of the promo codes worked, they had to call me to change my order ( they didn’t have what I ordered ), and it took for ever to process the order and ship. The prices were the same as the competition, so I’ll choose another company for future orders. Even the Survey Company thought the order had arrived?

My hockey/baseball player almost lost his mind in this store. So much gear! I feel like the stick selection here is better than Pure Hockey, and he loved that he could actually pick the bats off the rack and feel their weight (unlike at Dick’s). Prices are as-expected, but it’s great to actually try on gear. They have an extensive goalie gear section, too.

Staff was wonderful … unfortunately we drove over and house to purchase a softball glove to find out their selection of women’s glove was tiny compared to the men’s gloves ….. it’s a shame because the store look beautiful … I wish sports stores catered to women’s sports as much as they do men’s sports
Ray went above and beyond to help find the perfect skates for our teen hockey player with a wide foot.. He was patient, answered all our questions, is knowledgeable and is just an all around great guy to deal with..impressed! even more so that he got just the right fit for our son over the phone!.. One reason we especially appreciate it is because we live in a hockey desert.. its very far to get gear in lots of regions and then rinks often don't have wide widths in stock or very much variety or quality.. local rink has total trash for gear.. Please Hockey Monkey consider sending Ray with a van full of gear to hockey deserts like here in Texas to educate the local rinks and/or to supply local teams/programs with great gear.. I'm sure parents would be thankful.. we spent hundreds at first only to find out it was junk.. we had to drive far and spend hundreds more.. parents want their kids loving the game and having the proper safety gear.. so thanks again to Ray for his excellent help! We hope to see him here and where ever he's needed!.. parents would love a real up to date expert's visit and to be able to purchase better gear. Thanks!

Monkeysports Woodbridge is awesome! I was able to find a pair of inline skates to be able to practice in the ice off season. The staff is great - Michael spent nearly an hour with me making sure the skates were what I was comfortable in, completing the baking process, and making sure I had the correct wheels. I will be coming back here in the future to find sticks and gear.
I can't say enough about how amazing and helpful Terry was when we went in to buy a new stick. He talked to my 12 year old son and helped him pick out the stick that was perfect for him. He educated him on what makes a good stick for an individual and even discussed shooting techniques. Definitely an asset to the company! Thank you again Terry! I'm sure we'll be back soon
Honestly, I had probably the best experience I've had in ANY setting in a very, very long time at this store yesterday. Back in December of last year I'd purchased a pair of Bauer Mach Supreme skates as kind of a mid-life crisis birthday gift to myself. These skates are complete overkill for someone playing hockey once/twice a week, however, I was thrilled with them (performance increased significantly over my 12 year old Reebok 11ks!) until a couple weeks ago when I noticed I could barely skate an hour on them before experiencing excruciating pain in my left foot. Since I was well past any return policy (plus I'd had them baked and sharpened) I figured I was SOL. I learned through google searching that the pain I had was caused by this stupid extra "navicular accessory" bone in my lower foot. I also found out that many skate shops perform a "boot punch" service that basically make a hole in your skate to ease sore spots like this. I called MonkeySports and they informed me they were able to do this.
So I brought my skates in on a Sunday and had the boot punch done - I figured I was set to go and was grateful that they did this at no extra charge. I left and immediately headed to a local public skating session where I tried them out, however, I still felt that nasty pinch. It was at this point I began to really worry. I figured my options were pretty limited - I'd now made a significant change to the boot structure, which I assumed would likely destroy any resale value of the skate. I also felt like taking an extreme measure like this was already a best effort and my options would either be to buy new skates, have surgery to remove or shave this bone (apparently an option and one that I was really NOT considering) or just hang them up after 34 years of playing. I went back to the store exasperated, but hopeful maybe there'd be something else that could be done.
I am so glad I went back in. From the moment I returned to the store, I had at any given time 3 to 4 MonkeySports team members trying to come up with different solutions to help me. I just want to reiterate that I'd bought these skates back in December. After trying several different approaches, they finally made one last larger punch to my boot. I put my skates on and could not believe it - the pain was GONE. Like, completely GONE. I was blown away to say the least. I am SO excited to get back on the ice again!!
So this review has gone long enough, but I want to finish it out by saying that this MonkeySports team is world class. It is so rare these days to have people actually, genuinely care about customer experience. So I brought my skates in on a Sunday and had the boot punch done - I figured I was set to go and was grateful that they did this at no extra charge. I left and immediately headed to a local public skating session where I tried them out, however, I still felt that nasty pinch. It was at this point I began to really worry. I figured my options were pretty limited - I'd now made a significant change to the boot structure, which I assumed would likely destroy any resale value of the skate. I also felt like taking an extreme measure like this was already a best effort and my options would either be to buy new skates, have surgery to remove or shave this bone (apparently an option and one that I was really NOT considering) or just hang them up after 34 years of playing. I went back to the store exasperated, but hopeful maybe there'd be something else that could be done.
I am so glad I went back in. From the moment I returned to the store, I had at any given time 3 to 4 MonkeySports team members trying to come up with different solutions to help me. I just want to reiterate that I'd bought these skates back in December. After trying several different approaches, they finally made one last larger punch to my boot. I put my skates on and could not believe it - the pain was GONE. Like, completely GONE. I was blown away to say the least. I am SO excited to get back on the ice again!!
So this review has gone long enough, but I want to finish it out by saying that this MonkeySports team is world class. It is so rare these days to have people actually, genuinely care about customer experience. Jake Lakatos is his name and sports knowledge is his game. Kid is an absolute beautician and asset to Monkey sports especially in the roller and ice hockey sectors. I had a broken chassis and blade and he took care of it knowing I had a game in 3 hours. He made sure it was done right and sharpened the blade to perfection. He even walked me to the front in case I needed anything else. This was a brilliant hockey monkey experience. Thank you for making guys like this a part of your team. I went to Monkey sports needing lacrosse gear for my son who’s never played. I knew nothing about the sport. We were greeted by Jake who educated us all about lacrosse and explained what equipment was needed. He really was an amazing young man. He was patient and extremely knowledgeable. Bought my first pair of skates here. Just got then sharpened recently and was a dollar short, they let me slide.
The sales person that we got was just awful… he really seemed annoyed trying to help us find the right size… he brought my son a size that was a bit small but insisted it was right … then when my son asked for a half size bigger, he said they didn’t have it … when we found it online he went back and found it … then he went to heat them up and told my son to keep it in his feet for 10 min and then just didn’t return … when I went up to the front to ask what we should do, the guy told me that he probably just went to lunch… is that normal customer service???
By far my worst experience at any hockey store ever. I went into the store just to order a pair of custom pads. We had the spec sheet in hand. The goalie guy that approached us went ahead and sized me with head to toe goalie equipment when I specifically told them I didn't need any other gear besides custom pads. Then went ahead and continued to grab a pair of skates, helmet, chest protector, and stick encouraging me to purchase it for no reason. Later said I was either using gear that was too small or too big even though the gear fit fine just to get a big sale commission for him. As a goalie sales rep this is truely disappointing and embarrasing.
Had a little issue returning something, and the manager came and helped and wound up getting what I needed. 5/5 customer service. Earned a customer for life with todays service

As a new sled ice hockey player I truly appreciated the advise and help Phill offered me during my visit to MonkeySports. He began by asking opposed to simply trying to sell me a product. Phill’s knowledge in this field was truly helpful and I thank him for sharing it with me. I needed just about everything but the adaptive equipment I use as a paraplegic and he took the time to ensure each piece of equipment was a good fit for me.

Went to get skates sharpened, and requested 3/8 hollow. Skated on them the following day, and had no bite on my skates. I’ve been playing hockey for 25 years and know when skates are sharpened properly, these were not. This was my first time getting my skates sharpened there and probably won’t go back to get this done. Prior to getting my skates sharpened, I did inquire if they profiled skates, and it was noted that the Sparkx machine has been broken for quite some time, but can be done by hand. Needless to say, I’m glad I didn't have them profile the skates, who knows how the skates would have performed. If this (Sparkx) isn’t being fixed anytime soon, I’d recommend additional training for those manning the skate sharpener in the back to avoid players from having poor performing edges on their skates. Additionally, I bought a pair of shin pads, and was greeted by a rude cashier, who failed to remove the magnetic security tag on them, which was a pain to remove, but I had wire snips to get them off. Unfortunately, there aren’t many options in NJ when it comes to purchasing hockey equipment, but be aware when you do request a specific hollow outside the standard 1/2 cut, to check the edges before leaving.

It is extremely frustrating when a store posts that they open at 11am, there are customers outside waiting at 11:04, all staff is in a huddle just inside the doors. When attempting to open the door, the group of young adults give the “wait a minute” sign. After entering the store, being treated as if they are doing the customer a favor. Do I mind that a staff member was dropping the “f bomb” behind the counter? I do personally do not. But not a good look. When I went to speak with the manager, he wasn’t able to come out. Chronic lack of customer service appears to be systemic issue. Just frustrating.
Needed to buy ice hockey goalie gear and haven’t played in quite a few years. I went to another big name store and the gear but none to sell and it was ordering that left me in a bind. This was to my benefit

We have been shopping here for my son, a goalie, for 2 years. There are several reasons we keep coming back:
1. They have goalies working in the goalie section. This is crucial. Instead of someone who just read the product literature, you're talking to someone who knows the equipment through experience and understands the unique needs of a goalie.
2. They have plenty of stock and direct you to the right gear, not just the most expensive gear. I've never felt anyone trying to upsell me, instead they help you find what works best for you and your level of play.
3. The level of customer service is excellent. We had an issue with a mask that was not Monkey Sports' fault. Even though they had no liability, they still made it right at their own expense. They could have sent me back to the manufacturer or just told me that it wasn't their problem, but instead they replaced the mask quickly and my son has a better mask that we can feel safer with.
Eric and his team bring a wealth of experience and a great commitment to customer care when they fit out a goalie. We look forward to them being our go-to shop for some time to come.

My 13 year old nephew purchased a 300$ hockey stick from this store. The stick broke 2 weeks after purchase.
The stick has a one month warranty so we were within the warranty period.
When my nephew came in with the receipt to return the broken stick, they refused to accept the return because the bar code on the stick had been removed.
When he purchased the stick he was not informed that the bar code was not supposed to be removed.
My nephew is a regular customer here and has bought multiple items from this store.
My nephew was weeping when he got home.
After this experience we have decided not to shop here in the future.

Terrible return policy!! We returned a brand new pair of hockey pants because my son needed a new color for a new team. They were stored in the original packaging and only tried on one time. Tag still attached and within the return window. Hockey Monkey sent them back to me after several weeks and said the item smelled and had stains and that they were unable to be returned because of "obvious use". They advertise their 365 day return policy, but we are now stuck with a brand new pair of hockey pants that Hockey Monkey will not return. These pants do not smell and do not have stains. I never write reviews, but would like to caution others about using this company. These are a brand new pair of pants that Hockey Monkey will not accept as a return. Will be taking my business to more reputable businesses in the future. Your loss Hockey Monkey, because we spend a lot of money on hockey gear and I will recommend to every hockey family I know to take their business elsewhere.

Within all of our MonkeySports locations, we have the latest skate fitting technology from our major brands. 3D skate fitting and foot scanning is valuable to our customers in which they can figure out which stock skate works best for their specific needs and even make recommendations and showcase how skates would fit on the feet if they are smaller or larger. This scanner will pick up every small detail of the foot and the technology of the skate recommender works great! There are different versions that can be done where the customer is either standing or sitting and the scanner is either moved around their feet or captured while standing in the scanner itself. Customers can also get these foot scans done to figure out which custom skate would work best for their individual needs to make sure when they are on the ice, they are skating to their best potential.
